Dorman, Lisa Olenik

Dr. Lisa Olenik Dorman has served as a member of the faculty at Longwood University and Endicott College in addition to her tenure at Huntingdon; and has taught courses for Auburn University Montgomery, Alabama State University, the University of Alberta, California State University-Humboldt, and Boston University.  An expert in disability sport, Dr. Dorman served as the executive director and principal for the Paul Center for Learning and Recreation and, at Huntingdon, developed the College’s Wheelin’ Hawks program, Adapted Physical Education program, and Disability Sport Network.  In other capacities at Huntingdon, she helped to develop and served as the executive director for the Adult Degree Completion Program (part of the W. James Samford Jr. School of Business and Professional Studies), and served as an associate dean of academic affairs before stepping into the role of interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College. She also helped to develop the Staton Center for Academic Enrichment and served as the first director for that program.

Dr. Dorman has spoken widely on the topics of disability sport and multiple sclerosis, and has served as a National M.S. Society Gateway to Wellness instructor.  She is a manuscript reviewer for Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly, Palaestra: Forum of Sport, Physical Education & Recreation for those with Disabilities and served for a decade as a member of the Commission on Women and Sport of the International Paralympic Committee and Memberships.
